Our first Brewcyclers ride has wrapped up and just as quickly as it passed, we are already working hard on preparing for our future rides. We have to admit, we did not expect such a big crowd for our first ride and as much as we hate to admit it....we weren't exactly prepared for it. We both had the opportunity to test ride the route prior to the event so we knew what to expect and made some minor adjustments to the route to better suit our needs.
We had over 20 RSVP's on our Facebook page but having organized events previously, we knew that we'd be lucky if half shows up. But to our surprise, there were 23 riders who showed up at Hangar 24 Saturday morning! The level of riders varied from advanced to beginner but we worked hard to try and keep the group together. The first part of the ride was the hardest with a steady climb of a little over 600 feet in elevation within the first 5 miles! It was tough but everyone pushed through it. The rest of the route was easier with mostly down hill and flat routes. We finished the ride with another steady climb of about 450 feet in elevation during the last 8 miles of the 30 mile ride.
While some of the more advanced riders left the ride during our pit stop at Cafe Royale, most of the remaining riders were consistent in keeping up with the pace of the entire group. Once we arrived back at Hangar 24, we were all eager to get some refreshing beer and beer never tasted so good after a good long ride!
The event was a complete success and we thank every one who showed up and participated in such a fun and relaxing event. We hope to see many more of the same riders in our future rides and hope that everyone will spread the word about Brewcyclers!
